Coffee, light,
and the moments
in between.

I brew light roasts, chase good coffee, and photograph the world in between cups.
Based in Austin. This is where I write about both.

Two habits that
changed how I see.

It started with a kettle at six in the morning and a camera I barely knew how to use. Neither asked for much. Both gave back everything.

Coffee has a way of slowing you down if you let it. I chase light roasts and spend whatever time it takes to get the best out of each bean I brew. Lately I've been falling for Colombian Bourbons. There's something about the clarity of a washed Pink Bourbon that stops me mid-sip every time.

Photography is the same feeling pointed outward. I shoot everyday moments. Nothing staged, nothing performed. Just what's actually there when you care enough to look.

I live in Austin with my wife and son. This is where both of those loves live.

Everyday frames.

Documentary-style. Shot on the way to somewhere, or nowhere in particular.

What I've been drinking.

Notes on beans, cafés, and the occasional brewing rabbit hole.

Arcane Janson Estate Gesha
Panamá · Light Roast · Washed · Volcán, Tierras Altas
A Gesha from Chiriquí highlands at 1400–1600 masl. Roasted March 28 and just now hitting its window. Brewed it on the Switch and it delivered exactly what it promised — floral, clean, and delicious. Sometimes a coffee just does what it says on the bag.
Sweet Floral Melon
Brewed via Hario Switch · 19g / 310g · 078S at 15 · 50g bloom 45s open → 310g closed to 2:00 → open

Verve Bekele Belaycho Natural
Ethiopia · Light Roast · Natural · Bensa, Sidama
Five sessions to dial in. Worth every one. The pineapple hit first — bright, almost startling — then settled into something creamier as it cooled. One of those naturals that earns the hype.
Pineapple Strawberry Sweet Cream
Brewed via V60 · 22g / 400g · 078S at 15 · 93°C · TDS 1.38% · EXT 21.76%

Desnudo Pink Bourbon
Colombia · Washed · Huila · Microlot #80
Two brews to dial in — unusually cooperative. Washed Pink Bourbon is transparent in the best way. You get the variety, nothing hidden. Brown sugar sweetness all the way through.
Brown Sugar Jasmine Dried Strawberry
Brewed via V60 · 20g / 320g · 078S at 13 · 96°C · TDS 1.54% · EXT 21.16%

Merit Ethiopia Keramo
Ethiopia · Light Roast · Natural
Winey and a little wild. Blueberry on the nose, then it opens into something almost tropical as it cools. Pulled it on the Flair 58 at 9 bars and it rewarded the patience.
Blueberry Mango Dark Chocolate
Brewed via Flair 58 Plus · 93°C · 9 bar
March 2026
SEY Guji Natural
Ethiopia · Light Roast · Natural
SEY doesn't mess around with roast level and it shows. This one was almost transparent — you could taste the altitude. TDS came in right at 1.38% on the Hario Switch. Clean finish.
Peach Jasmine Meyer Lemon
Brewed via Hario Switch · 94°C · 3:10 min

A few thoughts.

Why I stopped trying to make every photo meaningful
Most of my favorite shots are ones I nearly deleted. They weren't supposed to be anything. That's probably the point.

On the ritual of making coffee before anyone else is awake
There's a specific kind of quiet that exists at 5:30am. The kettle, the grinder, the smell before the first cup. It's a room of your own that only lasts twenty minutes.

58 cafés in Mexico City and what I learned about paying attention
I did a specialty coffee passport challenge across CDMX last year. Every shop was different, but the best ones all had the same feeling: unhurried.

The best photo I took last year was an accident
I was walking out of a café in bad light, half-thinking about something else. The shutter fired. Sometimes that's the whole story.

If something here
resonated, reach out.

I'm not always fast at replying, but I do read everything. Whether it's about coffee, a specific roaster, photography, or just wanting to say hi — that's all fine.
